REEDS Culture Club Kombucha

Today I had the pleasure of trying my first organic raw REEDS brand kombucha. Flavor: cranberry ginger.

I loved it! Bright & sparkly with the perfect tartness and “snap” from the ginger. It’s the best kombucha. I have made my own before. Kombucha is a probiotic tea. People around world eat or drink a probiotic food or beverage. I decided to stop making home brew for several reasons. One being that I am the only one who drinks it. I got a little bit tired of babysitting my scoby. Plus I never could make the “flavors” like the commercial products.

Reeds does a good job for me so its worth the price. It’s like a probiotic supplement BUT tastes great. I think it’s a great value for nutritional bang. I recommend this to all my clients.

Pecan Molasses Mini-Muffins

Molasses is also a source of minerals. It has an interesting history. It is actually the byproduct of refining sugar cane/beets. I would definitely use blackstrap molasses. However, unlike refined sugars, it contains significant amounts of vitamin B6 and minerals, including calcium, magnesium, iron, and manganese; one tablespoon provides up to 20% of the recommended daily value of each of those nutrients. Blackstrap is also a good source of potassium.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackstrap_molasses) I like to use a teaspoon of molasses in my plain full fat yoghurt once in a while. I love this recipe. I have pecan’s and molasses. I give it try.

Monday back to school

Well today was our first day back to school in 2 weeks. That means back to my regular workout and eating schedule. I was very excited to get back in the gym!! Just so happens it was chest and tricep day, my favorite day!!!
Chest/tris
6×3-8reps bench press
3×5-8 push press
3×5-8 dumbbell bench press (50pounds)
Wide push ups after every bench set.
As for triceps I did a series of tricep pull downs, tricep dips, and close grip push ups.
All in all today’s workout was very successful and I’m looking forward to post on my leg day workout next!

Gummy Bites

RECIPE:
3 tablespoons unflavored gelatin
1/3 lemon/lime juice
Optional: extract

Mix gelatin and juice in pan over a medium low heat until gelatin is dissolved. Put in a pan. Put in freezer for about 15 minutes. Use spatula to pull out. This will be in a sheet that you can now cut to desired shapes.

I doubled this recipe. I used 2/3 cup of the naked juice “berry veggie”. Start with 1/4 cup water and 6 tablespoons gelatin. Mix in saucepan until dissolved. Add berry juice, juice of 1/2 lemon, 4-6 drops of doTerra lemon essential oil. I tasted this as I was heating the mixture until it was to the taste and tartness desired. This is really important step. If it doesn’t taste good before it gels it won’t after.

“Great Lakes unflavored gelatin is an excellent source of protein full healthy amino acids. 1 tablespoon of gelatin provides 6 grams of protein. Your kids will love this. Here is the link to buy it
